Click on ‘Blog’ to see all the featured songs.
Here is a rare recording of George Formby performing a song made famous by Herman’s hermits in the 60’s called “Leaning on the Lamp Post” (‘37)
George Formby, Jr., OBE (26 May 1904 – 6 March 1961) was an English singer and comedian, famous for playing the banjolele, a banjo-like instrument, and performing a variety of light, comical songs. He would eventually become a popular star of stage and screen.

Its the sound of a doo-wop group called the Quotations. The Quotations were formed in 1961 while in high school in Brooklyn and recorded their first hit record “Imagination B/W ”Ala-Men-Sy” ( the song you will hear) on the VERVE label (‘61). This is a non-sensical song about how a guy feels about his girl (at least thats what I hear) and the lyrics of ”Alamensy Conde lp Skiddy Boom, Timmi Hi Timmi Ho Timmi Rum Ba Bum, Nicka Nacka Nicka Nacka Cameo”... take your best shot as to what they mean…

Its the original version of I Want Candy from an old Go Go show thousands of years ago and loooonnnngggggg before Bow Wow did it. The Strangeloves were actually song writers and record producers that had fun writing this song and performing it. They also wrote the big hit for the Angels “My Boyfriends Back” and produced “Hang On Sloopy” for the McCoys. The Strangeloves recorded for Bang records.
